Sunday June 20 5pm 19 Snow ST.

Everyone! Rejoice! Please join my collaborator Photographer Mary Beth Meehan during Juneteenth/ Pride/ Solstice and Father’s Day Weekend to celebrate our Ancestors, our Community, and our Resilience on the side of the Dark Lady at 19 Snow Street for the dedication and celebration of this mural by Mayor Elorza.

This comes after PVDFest kicks off Juneteenth weekend with a ribbon cutting and free celebration unveiling locally-designed All Black Lives Matter Street Mural in the heart of downtown Providence. Official ribbon cutting and short speaking program will begin at 4:00pm. Walk on over to 19 Snow Street to continue the party!

We will honor Shawndell, Lizzie Araujo Haller and the Arts + Culture and Tourism, the national arts and civic organization For Freedoms, our ancestors and every Black and Brown person who has persevered and survived to make it to this day.

The Artist as a Witness (9).png

March 14, 2021 3-4:30pm The artist as witness

A conversation with New England BIPOC artists on redefining representation. Artists explore terrains that are brutal and beautiful, joyful and unjust. Their art is the mark of a culture for future historians. During this unprecedented time, this local group of BIPOC artists are adding their fingerprint to those who have come before them and weaving old traditions with new technology.

Join artists Jess Brown, Sharif Muhammad, Ashley Page, and Juniper Creative’s Jennifer Herrera Condry and Will Kasso Condry as they discuss heritage, celebrating Black joy, exposing police violence, and reclaiming lost art forms. The panel will be moderated by author Jennifer Mancuso and art director Lori Pedrick. https://www.fyamelrose.org/artist-as-witness/

Calling on my Arts, Primary and Secondary Educators, Downtown neighbors, Non-Profits, Alumni and BIPOC communities, I want to hear from you. As we launch our search for the next president of RISD, one of our key priorities as the Search Committee https://www.risd.edu/about/presidential-search/ is to conduct a search process that is thoughtful, inclusive, and transparent. We hope to have the input of as many voices as possible.

As an engaged member of our community, your insights and suggestions are valuable as we embark on this search. Over the last few weeks, our search consultants have met with a diverse set of RISD stakeholders to hear your perspectives, and now we'd like to hear from you. The consultants will be eager to hear your thoughts on the challenges and opportunities that the RISD community and the next president will encounter. On behalf of the search committee, we also welcome input on the attributes of a successful president and even specific recommendations of potential candidates.

To that end, on behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, the search consultants at Isaacson, Miller are collecting confidential input from the RISD community regarding your aspirations for the new president as well as perspectives on the ideal candidate profile. If you have a moment, please fill out this brief survey https://www.research.net/r/RISDpresident2021.

Please RSVP by March 14 here https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLSfqvu.../viewform if you plan to attend. A confirmation and Zoom link information will sent the day before the listening session. We very much hope that you can attend and lend your voice to this next chapter in RISD's continuous evolution. We also welcome suggestions of possible candidates, ideally with contact information and brief commentary on the merits of the individual suggested.
